The Ram hit the pavement and we headed west towards Verdi. As we approached the snow capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada, I could almost feel the aura of the rare finds about to be uncovered.  An estate which had been nestled up against the outskirts of the Truckee River made it's presence known.  As a small herd of deer gazed for the greenest grass, an auctioneer gazed for the greatest treasures.  The incredible items started to jump out one after the other. The exquisite Native American collectibles caught my Eagle eye within no time at all.  A profound collection of knapped arrowheads featuring various stones and designs from times long ago, manos and metates, early trade beads, Navajo jewelry, and tightly woven Washoe and Paiute baskets.  Impressive bronze sculptures representing the west by Frederic Remington saddled up as well.  A divine collection of art depicting Native American times including the Lovelock Duck Decoys print by William Moore, original oil paintings by Nevada and California artists as well as a painting by George McCann, limited edition duck stamp prints, Fred Boyce signed print, and a landscape painting by Gary Metz.  A great auctioneer once told me it isn't always too good to be true.  This week the catalog just kept ringing that belief true with great finds around every corner.  The catalog continued on with rare silver coins just in time for the silver boom, a gold nugget that makes it easy to say you found paydirt, autographed sports memorabilia including Jerry Rice and Joe Montana, carved Chinese serpentine stone tiger, signed WWII aviation illustrations, antique Wavecrest porcelain biscuit barrel, art deco 1930's Phoenix glassware vases, Soprani accordion, vintage pedal car, rare vintage porcelain signs including Hood Tires and Pepsi-Cola, Hot August Nights prints, Eastlake drop front secretary, Marilyn Monroe wine bottles, cement stone yard art, vintage department store perfume display bottles, and so many more exquisite rarities that have to be seen to be believed."
