<![CDATA[Welcome to a fantastic sale on the beautiful East Side of Milwaukee! This historic home was once the residence of Milwaukee portrait artist Louise Lemp Pabst, of the famous Pabst family. The recent owners were huge supporters of the arts and were heavily involved with the Milwaukee Art Museum, as well as the Chicago Institute of Art. As patrons and friends of many well-known mid-century artists, the owners filled this house with an astounding amount of beautiful and important works. Artists here represent the vanguard of modern mid-century art emerging first, during the 1950s and later, into the post-modern trends of the 80s and 90s.
There are also a few stunning pieces of mid-century furniture design, partially curated by Nicholas Chaparos, who was a member of the family and worked closely with Charles Eames in the late 1950s. Rounding out the sale are a selection of handsome Persian rugs, Native American pieces, vintage home decor, books, kitchen items and more.
Just a few of the highlights are listed below:
Works by important Black mid-century artist Ralph Arnold
Abstract works by Harry Bouras & Edvins Strautmanis
Great regional pieces by Jan Serr & Ellen Lanyon
Irreverent 1960s pieces by Gladys Nilsson
Cubist works by Ben Benson. Pablo Picasso & Reuben Nakian
Furniture by Charles Eames & Herman Miller
Vintage Cesca chairs by Marcel Breuer for Thonet
Custom spec Mid-Century steel & leather cantilevered chairs
Local Milwaukee artists such as Rochelle Sennett, Joanne Poehlmann, John Wilde & more
Post modern cutting edge works from Fred Stonehouse & Robert Curtis
Incredible Persian rugs from Pakistan, Iran, India & Turkey
A huge library of books, including some rare volumes
A large collection of mid-century & late 20th century Hopi Kachina dolls
A collection of native American pottery
Beautiful still life works by Patrick Farrell
Mid-century serving ware and glassware
A stunning Danish teak table by Dyrlund
 ...And much more!
