<![CDATA[Gene & Rita’s Life of Service, Family, Art and Community, Part Two Caring Transitions is honored to present Part Two of the estate collection of Gene and Rita, a beloved Colorado couple whose lives reflected a lifelong commitment to faith, family, education, cultural enrichment, service, and community leadership. While Part One highlighted the extraordinary African and African American art, cultural artifacts, and gallery-related collections that reflected Rita’s pioneering work in the arts community, Part Two offers an even deeper look into the personal side of their remarkable lives. This collection reveals the warmth, hospitality, intellectual curiosity, artistic appreciation, and love of family that filled their home for decades. Rita was among the first African American women to own and operate a prominent Black art gallery serving the Colorado Springs, Denver, and Pueblo regions. Through her work, she championed African and African American artists, supported cultural education initiatives, and helped preserve important stories and traditions for future generations. Her involvement with Black history projects and educational programs connected to Colorado College further reflected her dedication to community impact and cultural preservation. Part Two features an impressive variety of collections acquired through years of thoughtful living, collecting, travel, artistic involvement, and community engagement. Bidders will discover works by notable African American artists, historical and cultural collections, vintage stereo equipment, vinyl records, sterling silver, fine and costume jewelry, handcrafted furnishings, tribal and folk art, decorative accessories, books, memorabilia, and distinctive household treasures. Throughout the collection are pieces that speak to a lifetime of learning, entertaining, creativity, and appreciation for both beauty and heritage. The furnishings and decorative pieces reflect a home that welcomed family, friends, artists, educators, and community leaders. From carefully selected artwork and cultural objects to music collections, heirloom-quality furnishings, and personal keepsakes, the collection offers a unique opportunity to acquire items that carry both aesthetic appeal and meaningful provenance. Perhaps most remarkable is the way the collection tells a story. Each room reflects the values Gene and Rita embodied throughout their lives: curiosity, generosity, cultural pride, education, service, and a deep appreciation for the arts. The result is an estate that feels less like a collection of possessions and more like a living record of a family’s journey, accomplishments, relationships, and contributions to the communities they loved. Whether you are a collector, decorator, historian, music enthusiast, art lover, or simply someone who appreciates objects with character and meaning, Part Two offers a rare opportunity to bring home pieces from a life well lived and a legacy that continues to inspire. We invite you to join us in celebrating Gene and Rita’s enduring legacy of service, family, art, culture, and community.]]>
