I recently unexpectedly lost my sweet cat after a 7-day stay at the emergency vet, and between his hospitalization and treatment, I ended up with about $20,000 in vet bills. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to pay them, but it took a pretty significant chunk out of my savings.
