Description:
After seven decades as intrepid New Yorkers, first in Brooklyn and then for thirty years in a large Gramercy Park North duplex, this couple must, alas, move out-of-state to be closer to family. They have antiques inherited from grandparents who came to America before the turn of the 20th century and from parents whose good taste brought them some happiness as they coped with the Great Depression. These gathering habits continue in the current generation, as the couple collected their own finds from auctions and international travel. Their vast art collection includes works by listed artists Raphael Soyer, Chaim Gross & Irving Amen. You will find unique mid-century furniture, handmade rugs from Morocco and magazines and comic books dating from the 1920s onward. What remains of their professional lives as teachers of science and literature is also here: stacks of books, including many first editions. There are also artifacts of their many hobbies: cookware, a band saw, ice skates, a fancy pool cue, beads for making jewelry, a large set of school blocks their children used for many years and much, much more. Please take a look at three generations of joyful gathering.
