(www.honorstatue.com) and will be placed on East Cliff Dr in Santa Cruz, CA to bookend the male surfer already in place on Westcliff Dr. The book "Her Last Voyage," (Reference photos in gallery)is a compelling reflection on the September 2, 2019 catastrophic tragedy on the dive boat, MV Conception that caught fire offshore Santa Cruz Island (Channel Islands), California. Thirty-four lives lost. Some of the divers onboard werefrom Santa Cruz, Ca, and many of us inAmerica remember waking up to images of the boat engulfed in flames and then hearing about the tragic lossof our friends and neighbors here in Santa Cruz. Heather Sawdon, the Author, has a personal connection to the tragedy. Her sister, Kristy Finstad, the charter master on the boats last voyage, and the Finstad's history of owning Worldwide Diving Adventures (www.worldwidedivingadventures), one of the first diving companies in the world purchased by her father, Bill Finstad from Jack O'Neil. Heather writes about her research into the story that culminates in improving boat safety and her insights into personal loss. Please come by, purchase a book or contribute what you can. The Finstad family will be donating funds from the salesof Heather's book towards the Honor Statue and Modena Estate Sales will donate funds from some salestowards the project. We look forward to seeing you there!
