This collection comes from the Oakland estate of an African American schoolteacher whose love of learning, culture, and collecting filled her family home. An avid reader, she built an extensive library spanning African American history and literature, art, education, politics, poetry, fiction, cooking, and more. Her eclectic interests extended to African and African-inspired art, vintage furnishings, records, jewelry, fashion, and collectibles, while vintage video games, electronics, stereos, televisions, and bicycles offer a nostalgic glimpse of family life in the 1970s and ’80s. It’s a wonderfully varied collection shaped by curiosity, culture, and generations of memories.
