She went to his inaugural ball in Sacramento and inauguration in Washington in 1981. She also attended Richard Nixon's inauguration in 1969 as she worked on his campaign too. Both worked in Saudi Arabia on and off for 8 years. They traveled the country extensively and became collectors of local Bedouin artifacts.
