Gatsby Finds is pleased to present The Legacy Art of Miriam Axelrod (American Artist 1913-1998)~~ This auction offers a compelling selection of her works spanning bronze sculpture, works on paper, and her signature wood relief assemblages. Axelrod developed a bold and highly individual voice within the mid-century American avant-garde.~~ Working in the spirit of Louise Nevelson, Axelrod brought together disparate materials into cohesive, architectonic compositions, sharing a command of structure and shadow while distinguishing her work through a more dynamic, tactile energy and an intuitive, almost spiritual sense of form. Her practice aligned with Brutalist and modernist experimentation, transforming found materials—wood fragments, metal elements, and industrial remnants—into richly textured surfaces.~~ Axelrod was particularly adept at combining diverse materials within a single work. Her “Icons” series—assemblages of found objects and fragments—were constructed into low reliefs and unified through an overall darkened surface, allowing subtle metallic undertones to emerge. Her works often evoked ancient walls, ritual objects, and fragmented landscapes, carrying a quiet intensity and enduring sense of mystery.~~ Exhibited widely in New York and Philadelphia, and at the 1964 World’s Fair Fine Arts Pavilion, her work is held in both institutional and private collections. Axelrod’s work represents a compelling and increasingly appreciated chapter in mid-century American abstraction.THIRD PARTY SHIPPING AVAILABLE! NATIONWIDE This is a rare opportunity to acquire works by an increasingly recognized mid-century artist—each piece offering both aesthetic presence and lasting collector appeal. Happy Bidding. >>> LINK HERE FOR AUCTION DETAILS, PHOTOS AND BIDDING >>>> https://www.auctionninja.com/c...
