Gene & Rita’s Life of Service, Family, Art and Community, Part One Caring Transitions is honored to present the estate collection of Gene and Rita — a beloved Colorado couple whose lives reflected a deep commitment to faith, family, education, culture, service, and community leadership. This is far more than a traditional estate auction. Rita was among the first African American women to open and operate a prominent Black art gallery serving the Colorado Springs, Denver, and Pueblo regions. Her work helped bring visibility and appreciation to African and African-American art and artists throughout Colorado and beyond. She was also involved in helping develop Black history initiatives connected with Colorado College and remained deeply engaged in the cultural and educational life of her community.
