He and his friends would tear up lawnmovers and soup them up for races in the fields. Eventually Bob's love for anything mechanical got him interested in cars and races. He began to work with Leo Matte, a race car owner, and began a 40+ year career as a crew member and chief for asphalt modified race teamthrough New England. He built and mainteined cars for Jack Lecuyer, Bob Polverari, Reggie Rugero and Larry Cirillo. Upon his retirement from racing, Bob began restoring antiques. Soon , hios basement became known as "The Museum" as he began collecting and meticulously restoring rare tractors, farm equipment, hit and miss engines, meat grinders and a full array of machinery. What entered as a barely recognizable ball of rust , was soon restored to like new, museum quality item. He even hand painted the raised lettering on each item.
