Description:
This collection emerges from a West Orange, New Jersey estate with connections to the family of Romanian-American artist Dimitri Berea (1908–1975). Following the artist’s passing, a portion of works and studio materials remained within the family and were inherited by his brother, George Berea. Over time, pieces from George Berea’s New York residence and the family’s broader art holdings were brought together in the West Orange home. The estate contains a diverse range of works, including figural sketches, studies, and drawings believed to be associated with Dimitri Berea’s studio practice, as well as paintings collected by the family during their years living in Europe and the United States.
